I present my oldest children; Bethany and Jesse.  They are both committed to the Lord and to serving Him.  Bethany and Jesse continue to diligently prepare themselves for ongoing full-time Christian missions ministry.

Bethany’s long-term life goals are to be fully engaged in Christian evangelism missions ministries.  She is particularly inspired by ministries focused on saving young ladies exploited and oppressed in cultures without Christian influence.   She has hopes of bringing the hope of the gospel through ministries that combat human trafficking.

Bethany is now in her Senior year at Montreat College, North Carolina, majoring in Bible & Religion with an emphasis on worldviews.  She has kept straight A's for the last three semesters, is on the Distinguished Scholar list and has won the All Conference Academic Athalete Award.  Bethany was schooled at home from kindergarten through high school graduation at the age of 17.  Since the age of five, Bethany was actively involved in the AWANA youth program, completing all the Bible memorization and study requirements to earn the prestigious Citation Award.  She took an active leadership roll in Children’s and youth ministries and she was a faithful participant in community service ministries.  She also exercised a strong leadership roll as Captain of her high school Varsity soccer team, winning the All Conference player of the year award in 2005.

Bethany began her college studies during her high school Senior year, in dual enrolment status, at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Virginia.  With two college classes under her belt, she started her Freshman year at Montreat College, a Christian college in Western North Carolina.  Bethany is pursuing a Bachelor of Science major in Bible and Religion with a concentration in World View Studies.  Bethany was selected as a Wilson Scholar in her Sophomore year.  The Wilson Scholar honor is offered to a select few students who demonstrate leadership qualities, godly Character, academic achievement, and a strong work ethic.  She is on the President’s List and was awarded the All Conference Varsity Soccer Academic Award in her Freshman and Sophomore years.  Bethany receives 65% of her education funding by the Keystone Academic Scholarship, a Varsity Soccer Scholarship, Chubb Foundation Scholarship and as a Wilson Scholar.  Bethany spent her 2009 Summer as a staff counselor for the Biblical Worldview High School Camps.  She attended Intervarsity's Student Missions Conference 2009 in St. Louis, Missouri, Dec. 27-31.  Bethany is part of the Montreat College Service And Leadership Team (SALT) and head's up the school's chapter of the Not For Sale ministry.   Bethany is on track to graduate with honors, May 2010.

""I am excited about all the God has in store for me and I am eagerly awaiting each time when God will relate each new step that He has called me to take.  "The Lord said to me, 'Do not say I am a youth, for you shall go to all whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.  Do not be afraid of their faces for I am with you to deliver you says the Lord.""  Bethany Carmichael citing Jeremiah 1:7

Jesse set his sights on attending Montreat College in North Carolina where he could pursue his interests in science, nature, adventure and advancing the kingdom of God through a vocation in Christian evangelistic missions ministries.  He intends to facilitate and direct Christian evangelism and discipleship ministries that utilize personal challenge programs.

At the age of 19, Jesse is in his Senior year at Montreat College, in North Carolina.  While at Montreat College, Jesse has A's in every class but one (actually wrote a paper and forgot to turn it in.)  He is on the Distinguished Scholar list,
pursuing a dual major in Environmental Field Studies and Outdoor Education along with the Biblical studies that are a part of Montreat’s undergraduate program.  Jesse has been selected to participate in the "Emersion Program" for the first four months of 2010 where he will continue his studies while isolated with a small group under very challenging conditions.  The first several weeks will require him to live in a snow hut that the team will make in the mountains of Montana, where they will learn survival skills and achieve their First Responder Certification.

Jesse schooled at home from kindergarten through his high school graduation at the age of 15.  Since the age of four, Jesse was actively involved in the AWANA youth program, completing all the Bible memorization and Bible study requirements to earn the prestigious Citation Award.  He took an active leadership roll in Children’s and youth ministries and he was a faithful participant in community service ministries.  He was captain of his Recreation League soccer team for three years.  He began his college studies at the age of 14 in his high school Senior year, in dual enrollment status.  Because of his young age, Jesse set a precedent for Thomas Nelson Community College (TNCC) in Hampton, Virginia.   His GPA from Thomas Nelson is 3.944 at the end of his Sophomore year.  Jesse was nominated to the Honor Society and was on the President's List at TNCC.  Upon transfering to Montreat College, Jesse made the Dean's list and is now been named a Distinguished Scholar.  Jesse has put his ministry training, field studies, outdoor education, and service ministry experience to good use as a staff member at Christian summer camps during the last two summers.  Jesse still has three semesters to complete his very demanding dual major program.

"I have committed myself to a life of faith and I will follow God wherever He may lead.  God has not given me the ability to see the long-term picture, but He has given me the faith to follow Him one step at a time."  Jesse Carmichael, August 2008
