Faith
- The
Final Frontier - is David's first book of several anticipated
books
to come.
David came to Christ in 1975, at the age of 13. Through struggles typical of every teenager, David came to the conclusion that he lacked direction for his life. And so, he joined the United States Navy in 1980 as a Sonarman. David suddenly found himself excelling in his Navy education and new career. He soon came to be expected to be the top student in every technical, or tactical, course that they put him through. He advanced rapidly to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in only seven years. His Navy career continued to 1997 when, through an intense struggle of faith, David's submission to God brought about a radical career shift. In 1987, seeking deeper walk of faith, David prayed for a "Word" from God. He wanted to know what it was to live the Christian life like those he could read about in the Bible. In answer to David's prayers, God spoke. It made David have to chose between obedience to God and survival. David and Leslie experienced God's miraculous intervention and marvelous faithfulness through their obedience. David's first book, Faith - The Final Frontier, chronicles many stepping stones of faith. His path lead him to a place in 1996 where he had to make a choice between what he knew was God's will for his life and the completion of his career that would soon bring him a relaxed shore duty and retirement pay. The choice was truly one of life and death. David would have to take up his cross and die to the life he knew and relied upon for survival. That choice began a saga of adventure for the Carmichael's. David soon discovered that he would find the cross laying in his path every day. Before he could move on, David had to deny himself, pick it up again, and follow Jesus. Faith - The Final Frontier has the affect of making each of us examine our own lives, motives, fears, and faith. It gives us a clear picture of our Heavenly Father's attentive concern for our daily needs. It inspires each of us to look forward to, rather than dread, each opportunity to pick up the cross that lays before us.
